This is about a city I used to live in, and a close friend there. It’s revolves around memory, fleeting images, longing, drifting off, and separation.
There’s an implicit sort of narrative, but the viewer doesn’t need to know what it could all mean in order to assess that there IS meaning, and what kind of meaning it is. Hopefully people can get beyond the surface beauty, though “on the surface” it’s all about that. Incidentally, the last time I saw this person was the morning after the Sichuan Earthquake in 2008.
The technique is essentially collage. It’s composed completely from pictures I took in Hanzhong, China.
(Note: I live in China, and this work would be impossible if I hadn’t immersed myself in living in another country and culture. I also finished this the day before "Lantern Day," coincidentally.)

Yeah man. So glad you understand the thing about not using stock. (I used it in a few parody pieces, though one I took so far that it's actually quite good in its way, but I'm generally totally against using stock myself and must do EVERYTHING myself. Just a personal thing. Others can use it and I don't mind, as long as I know what's theirs and whats appropriated).
